Overview

The Smith & Nephew TRUFIT^◊ BGS Plug is a cylindrical scaffold ideal for filling circular drill holes in bone. Made with Smith & Nephew POLYGRAFT^◊ technology — composite material with a porous architecture that mimics natural bone — TRUFIT BGS Plug implants are designed to resorb and allow tissue ingrowth. Each kit is packaged with a TRUFIT BGS Plug, delivery device and trimming knife to allow implantation of the plug arthroscopically or through a mini-arthrotomy based on surgeon preference and defect location. The implant is sized for cylindrical defects with depths of 5 to 17 mm (see ordering information).

Cylindrical implant is press-fit into the site for close apposition, encouraging migration of repair tissue.
Interconnected pores (mean diameter of 250 µ) enhance tissue ingrowth and remodeling.
Hydrophilic properties absorb blood, marrow, cells and proteins on implantation.
Scaffold can be finely contoured at the time of surgery.
Plug completely resorbs in 6-9 months.
Offered in 5 mm (green), 7 mm (red), 9 mm (blue), and 11 mm (purple) to correspond to Smith & Nephew TRUKOR^◊ PLUS Site Preparation Kit.

Intended Use

TRUFIT BGS Plugs are to be used to fill bony voids or gaps of the skeletal system (i.e., the extremities, spine and pelvis) caused by trauma or surgery that are not intrinsic to the stability of the bony structure.
