Technique Information

The TRUKOR◊ PLUS instruments are provided in sizes 5 mm (green), 7 mm (red), 9 mm (blue), and 11 mm (purple). The various TRUKOR PLUS set components are color-coded by size for easy reference.
To select the appropriate TRUKOR PLUS instrument size, inspect the affected site and measure the size of the defect with the sizers.
Open the appropriate drill sleeve. Insert the appropriate obturator into the handle end of the drill sleeve. The obturator facilitates insertion of the drill sleeve into the surgical site.

Once the drill sleeve has been placed within the surgical site, remove the obturator from the drill sleeve and insert the appropriate drill sleeve cap into the handle end of the drill sleeve. The drill sleeve cap seals the surgical access port to keep fluids from streaming out and provides a striking surface for the mallet.

Caution: Impacting the drill sleeve without the cap in place can damage the drill sleeve.
The TRUKOR Drill Sleeve is placed over the selected site. Care must be taken to ensure that the drill sleeve is seated perpendicular to the surface containing the defect. To seat the drill sleeve, gently press the drill sleeve into the tissue. In hard tissue extra care must be taken to ensure a perpendicular approach to the surface.
Using a mallet, strike the drill sleeve cap and drive the drill sleeve into the bone to a depth of 5-15 mm (reference depth markings on sleeve).

Caution: The drill sleeve should be kept steady to prevent "toggling" in the defect.

Once the desired depth has been attained, maintain the drill sleeve in the bone and remove the cap from the drill sleeve. Select the appropriate TRUKOR PLUS Drill from the sterile tray.

Note: The drill sleeve should be kept steady to prevent "toggling" in the defect.
 A. Manual Drilling: Insert the appropriate TRUKOR PLUS Drill into the drill handle and place into the drill sleeve. Slowly rotate the drill clockwise to start removing tissue from the affected area. Continue rotating clockwise until the drill stop contacts the drill sleeve, and make one additional rotation to assure tissue is removed completely.

B. Power Drilling: Chuck the appropriate TRUKOR PLUS Drill into the power drill and place into drill sleeve. Slowly drill to start removing tissue from the affected area. Exercise care in preventing heat buildup in tissue during drilling. Continue drilling until drill stop contacts the drill sleeve.

Keeping the drill (manual or power) within the drill sleeve, remove both together. Inspect the surgical site to assure that all tissue within the defect has been removed and flush if necessary. For TRUFIT BGS Plug implantation please refer to the TRUFIT BGS Plug Surgical Technique (REF 10600208).
