Which surgeon?

Smith & Nephew

Because of the failures of resurfacings in the past, today's orthopedic surgeons were mostly trained during the period where resurfacing was frowned upon. To address this issue, the makers of the BIRMINGHAM HIP◊ together with leading resurfacing surgeons have developed an extensive training program. This program teaches the surgeons how to assess patients and their fit for the procedure, the risks and expected outcomes of the procedure, and the differences between a standard total hip procedure and the BIRMINGHAM HIP◊ procedure.

Smith & Nephew acknowledges Mr. Derek McMinn, FRCS for his training efforts related to the BIRMINGHAM HIP◊ Resurfacing implant. Mr. McMinn has personally trained over 500 surgeons from around the world including the majority of US surgeons now using the device.
