INTRADISCAL ELECTRO THERMAL◊ Therapy, also known as the IDET◊ procedure, treats patients with chronic disc-related lower back pain who have failed to respond to conservative therapeutic treatment. During the procedure, a controlled level of heat is applied to the wall of the affected disc, which may result in diminished lower back pain.
Targeted Disc Decompression also treats the disc, but is slightly different in that it addresses the problem of bulges or herniations in the disc nucleus, which can lead to leg pain and lower back pain. Heat is applied directly at the affected site of the disc nucleus, contracting the tissue and simultaneously reducing the herniation.
RF Facet Denervation uses radiofrequency energy to interrupt or disable nerves that carry pain signals arising from facet joints - the joints that connect and stabilize the vertebrae. Similar to Smith & Nephew's other minimally invasive spinal procedures, RF Facet Denervation treats pain directly at the source.

The Smith & Nephew Controlled Disc Stimulation (CDS) System is used by physicians to perform spinal disography procedures, which can pinpoint the exact discs causing back pain in a patient. |
