Postoperative Care

Post Operative Care

Smith & Nephew

Your doctor will provide specific details regarding postoperative care, but here are a few things that may occur following your operative hysteroscopy procedure:

  1. You may have bleeding and menstrual-like cramps after the procedure. If so, you may be instructed to use pads instead of tampons.
  2. Refrain from douching or using vaginal medications until your gynecologist tells you otherwise.
  3. Your gynecologist may tell you to refrain from sexual intercourse for a period of time after the procedure.
  4. Your gynecologist will likely schedule a follow up appointment a few days after the procedure to discuss the results of your surgery.
  5. It is possible that you may require further treatment depending upon the results of the initial operative hysteroscopy procedure.
