Only Smith & Nephew offers all three of these partial knee replacement options with its JOURNEY Active Knee Solutions family, designed to restore more natural feeling and motion to you so that you can regain your active lifestyle.
Ultimately, it is up to your orthopaedic surgeon to determine the best implant option and treatment for you. He or she may consider one of these treatment options:
JOURNEY◊ UNI Unicompartmental Knee Replacement |
| |
With a unicompartmental knee replacement, only one side of the femur (thigh bone) and tibia (shin bone) is affected with OA. The other side, and your knee cap, are free of the disease.Having this pattern of disease typically affects about 8 out of every 100 sufferers of OA. |
JOURNEY◊ PFJ Patellofemoral Joint Replacement |
| |
If your kneecap is the only area affected by OA, your surgeon may decide to use a patellofemoral implant. Relatively rare, this pattern of disease affects about 2 out of every 100 sufferers of OA. |
JOURNEY◊ DEUCE◊ Bi-Compartmental Knee Replacement |
| |
Many OA sufferers (estimates place this at over 60 out of 100) have two out of three sections of their knee affected—one side of the thigh and shin bones plus the knee cap. In the past, this situation would typically be treated with a total knee replacement. Now, a new implant called the JOURNEY DEUCE can be used, so that you can retain more of your healthy bone and all your ligaments, and enjoy more natural motion and feeling. |
