“It is amazing!” he said.
Mike has been coaching for 37 years. He’s had osteoarthritis in his knee since a high school football injury required cartilage surgery.
“Over the years it had gotten progressively worse, in particular the last five or six years,” he said.
In December 2007, Mike had arthroscopic surgery that offered some temporary relief, but in a few months the pain was right back where it started. He then had steroid injections, but they didn’t offer much relief either. It had gotten so bad that we has having a hard time even walking, and his knee hurt “a LOT.”
That’s when he decided to go to visit an Orthopaedic practice for additional help.
Mike’s surgeon recommended total knee replacement surgery using VISIONAIRE◊ Patient Matched Technology. Mike considered it carefully and did his own thorough research. “I thought that the VISIONAIRE◊ procedure seemed less invasive than other options, and it seemed to take a little less time and incur less trauma to the knee,” he said. “It just sounded really good to me, and it has so far proven to be just as good as it sounded.”
Mike says he has seen friends struggle with walking more than a month after they had traditional knee replacement surgery. So he was excited when he walked 110 feet the day after his own knee replacement.
The best part is Mike’s not only walking, he’s back to coaching his favorite team, the Camdenton Lakers.
“I’m pain free in my knee, and to me, that’s just awesome!”
