IMPACTION GRAFTING
View list of all products
IMPACTION Grafting has been proposed as a method for improving the durability and reliability of cementing femoral components in revision total hip surgery. Short-term results using this technique have been encouraging. The proposed advantages of cementing femoral implants into impacted cancellous graft are:
Immediate rigid fixation of implants
Restoration of bone stock
Positive bone remodeling
Simplification of implant selection and instrumentation
A standardized and reproducible surgical technique
In order to achieve these advantages, an IMPACTION Grafting technique must be:
Safe
Reproducible
Consistent in the preparation and insertion of bone graft
Adaptable to a wide range of implant lengths and head-neck offsets
Cost efficient
The Radial Impaction Grafting (RIG) technique was developed to achieve the following objectives:
Maximize the impaction of morselized cancellous graft
Minimize the likelihood of early and late femoral fractures
Permit the use of stems of variable lengths and head-neck offsets
