Venturi effect

A high velocity stream of sterile saline jets across the operating window and into an evacuation collector, creating a localised vacuum to hold and cut targeted tissue while apirating debris from the site

Tissue excision

When the operating window is orientated parallel to the tissue, excision and aspiration are performed. At higher power levels, harder or tougher tissue can be excised. The surgeon can control the cutting and aspiration effects by adjusting console power settings, hand piece orientation and hand piece pressure.

Contaminant removal

When the operating window is orientated obliquely to the tissue, the primary action becomes vacuuming and irrigation of the contaminated tissue. The closer the operating window is to parallel, the more aggressive the tissue excision - whereas the more oblique, the more gentle contaminant vacuuming.

Applications

VERSAJET◊'s unique properties enable clinicians to debride traumatic wounds, chronic wounds, or other soft tissue lesions or remove contaminants from a wound quickly and efficiently. The system is highly controllable:

  • At the lowest power levels, VERSAJET◊ will function mainly as a vacuum and remove little tissue with each pass.
  • As the power is increased, tissue ablation increases, as does the ability to remove harder, tougher tissue types.
  • At the highest power levels, the VERSAJET◊ system will remove non-viable tissue very rapidly and cut all but the hardest tissues.
