The reamer heads are slipped onto the tip of the shaft and inserted over a guide rod. The surgeon begins reaming with the 9 mm end-cutting reamer head and will sequentially ream in 1 mm increments until the canal has been reamed 0.5 mm to 1 mm over the diameter of the selected nail.
