How does the 8.5mm FAN surgical technique differ from the standard FAN?
      • Answer:

The Entry Portal should be lateral to the apex of the greater trochanter. The proximal reaming should be done with the 12.5 Flexible Reamer only (7163-1116). And finally, the grey FAN Guide (7163-1146) should be sued for targeting the proximal screw.

Why does the tip of the implant look like it does?
      • Answer:

It is designed to make the implant easy to identify as a TRIGEN◊ nail when removing it. Identifying the implant allows the OR staff to know which instrument set to pull. In addition, the design makes the tip of the nail easier to drive down the shaft, particularly in the tibia.
