Design Rationale

Trigen_Instruments_EntryTool

Designed to provide a more convenient method of locating and creating an entry portal. The beveled tip of the Entry Tool is placed to bone, and the honeycomb insert allows a Guide Pin to be inserted and positioned as needed in the medullary canal. The honeycomb insert is removed, while leaving the Entry Tool and Guide Pin. The Entry Tool then becomes a working channel and allows other instruments to pass through as the canal is being prepared for inserting the nail.

Assembly

The honeycomb insert slips into the Entry Tool. The insert turns and allows for additional Guide Pins to be inserted as needed until proper placement has been achieved. Standard suction tubing connects to the Entry Tool to allow for blood containment and evacuation. The handle can be rotated as needed to adjust the angle of the beveled tip so that it rests appropriately on the bone.

Features Benefits
Innovative Design Allows instrument to act as a working channel to more conveniently perform an IM nailing procedure.
Beveled Tip Allows instrument to pass through soft tissue safely and to be positioned on the bone easily.
Honeycomb Insert Allows Guide Pins to be inserted to assist in acquiring the appropriate entry portal.
Suction Port Allows standard suction to be attached to the Entry Tool to minimize exposure to blood.
Rotating Handle Allows the handle to be adjusted so that the beveled tip is oriented properly to the bone.
