Design Rationale

Designed to offer a convenient method for preparing the bone to accommodate the diameter of the driving end of the implant. Procedures using the Femoral Antegrade Nails (FAN) use the entire Assembly. Knee Nails use only the 12.5 mm Entry Reamer.

12.5 mm Entry Reamer (7163-1116)
14 mm Channel Reamer (7163-1118)
Entry Reamer Connector (7163-1120)

Assembly

The assembly is designed so that the entry reamer connector conveniently screws onto the 14 mm channel reamer. The 12.5 mm entry reamer is inserted into the 14 mm channel reamer and easily connects to a power drill. The assembly is then inserted through the entry tool to ream the intramedullary canal. The moving parts of the assembly are in gold to make it easier to identify during disassembly.

Features Benefits
Entry Reamer Assembly Designed to provide options when reaming for the diameter of the driving end of the implant. The design of the assembly makes it more economical to replace parts as they wear out.
12.5 mm Entry Reamer Conveniently connects to a power drill to ream the intramedullary canal in preparation for the implant. The shaft is flexible. It is used with the 14 mm channel reamer for FAN Nail procedures and by itself with Knee Implants.
14 mm Channel Reamer Used with FAN Nails to prepare the bone to accommodate the proximal diameter of the implant. The assembly is inserted through the entry tool. The channel reamer is left in place after proximal reaming is complete to extend the working channel of the entry tool.
