SynergyHipSystem_Overview

With over 85,000 stems successfully implanted since 1997, SYNERGY◊ Hip System has been one of the fastest growing hips in orthopaedics. Why? Because SYNERGY◊ is a complete system, with state-of-the-art options, that utilizes simple, efficient instrumentation.

  • Features and Benefits
  • Two simple instrument trays arranged in the order of surgery to allow a simple, efficient operation.
  • Circulotrapezoidal neck provides increased ROM and can lead to less dislocations.
  • 3° taper design, similar to the natural canal’s 2°-4° taper, provides optimal stability and fixation.
  • Optimized neck taper and femoral head design allow for 11mm of neck length adjustment without a skirted head. Femoral heads with skirts decrease ROM and can increase dislocation.
  • Dual offsets that stay at a constant 131° provide a restoration of the patient’s biomechanics without affecting leg length.
  • 1mm size increments allow for better match.
  • Roughcoat sintered bead porous coating allows for scratch fit and stresses the bone for bone ingrowth.
  • Anterior/posterior fins are shown to provide 20% more stability than a similar design without fins.
  • Distal tip of SYNERGY◊ Hip System is polished and bulleted to reduce thigh pain.
  • CONQUEST◊ FX Fracture Management System also uses the SYNERGY◊ Hip System’s efficient instrumentation. More information on CONQUEST◊ FX can be found in the Fracture Management section of this website.

In 1997, the SYNERGY◊ Total Hip System was introduced. The goal of this tapered hip system was to give orthopedic surgeons choices, but not confusion; a system that allows the surgeon to select from a family of stems, yet have the simplicity of only one set of instruments.

      • Femoral Stems

The following femoral stems are all part of the SYNERGY◊ Tapered Hip System and can be implanted with one simple set of surgical instruments.

SYNERGY◊ Porous features a RoughCoat porous coating that
promotes bone ingrowth and three-dimensional interlocking between
      the implant and the bone.

SYNERGY◊ HA features a high shear strength hydroxyapatite
coating, which helps promote secure fixation.

SYNERGY◊ HA on Porous has a RoughCoat porous surface that is coated with hydroxyapatite to help provide long-term fixation.

SYNERGY◊ Titanium Press-Fit allows bone ongrowth and promotes stability with a roughened surface.

SYNERGY◊ Cemented is designed for cement fixation with a satin
      surface finish and collar.

CONQUEST◊ FX is a low patient demand, low-cost fracture management stem that is used with or without cement. (more info. on CONQUEST◊ FX )

The SYNERGY◊ Porous, HA, HA on Porous, and Cemented are all available in standard and high offset sizes.
