Introduction

With modular acetabular components, the ease of assembly and the integrity of the liner/shell lock mechanism under various loading conditions is paramount to the long-term implant performance. The R3◊ Acetabular System is designed for easier insertion while increasing the locking strength of the liner within the shell. The R3◊ system utilizes a double-bead lock design with anti-rotation tabs, while the REFLECTION◊ system has an interfering spline design. Testing was performed to assess the ease of assembly and the lock strength between the liner and shell under axial, levering, and torsional loading conditions.
