Digital Operating Room Platform Summary
Smith & Nephew’s Digital OR is an integrated operating room solution that utilizes digital and emerging technologies for the benefit of the patient, surgeon, OR staff, and the facility as a whole. The Digital OR can improve patient care by increasing efficiencies within the operating room, improving surgeon control in the operative environment, and providing the means for superior surgeon and customer education.
The revolutionary products within the Digital OR deliver superior performance and are integrated into a flexible, easy-to-use, customized surgical solution. In this way, the Digital OR is a platform that supports both the technological and clinical changes that will occur in the future, including new advances such as image-guided surgery, robotics, and progressive scan camera systems, and is designed to keep pace with your changing needs.
The CONDOR◊ Control System Platform
The advanced CONDOR◊ Control System integrates the Digital OR in an entirely new way—a customized platform providing futureproofing, ease-of-use and convenience during surgical procedures. Medical device control and audio-visual routing are uniquely combined into one powerful system that maximizes today’s state-of-the-art capabilities and supports next-generation technology. With the touch of a button or the sound of a voice, the surgical team can optimize equipment, control multimedia and configure the room to the specific desires of a particular surgeon.
Audio-Visual Routing
The CONDOR◊ Audio-Visual Control System enables real-time distribution of the highest quality video, audio and computer signals within the OR, inside the facility and around the world.
Centralized Medical Device Equipment Control
The CONDOR◊ Medical Control System helps maximize clinical focus and efficiency by providing the surgical team with centralized control of endoscopic and other medical devices from multiple locations inside the operating room using touch panels and voice commands.
Information Management
Smith & Nephew’s Image Management System acquires digital images and video in standard formats and prints with plain paper for high-quality documentation. Images and video are exported via Ethernet and with the purchase of Smith & Nephew’s Integration Broker software can be stored in a network folder, a PACS and/or the facility’s EMR system.
Equipment Mounting Solutions
Ceiling-mounted support arms lift endoscopic equipment off the floor and manage gas and electrical lines. These solutions help decrease room turnaround time while reducing clutter and wear and tear on equipment. Flat panel monitors on booms and wall mounted flat-panel displays provide more convenient image viewing for the surgical team. This enables them to anticipate the needs of the surgeon and provide better care for the patient.
