Femoral Hip Implant
The CONQUEST FX◊ hip stem is a low cost, low patient demand, hip replacement option. A low demand patient refers to a patient who has fallen and fractured his/her hip or a patient who has low physical activity. The "Fx" in the CONQUEST FX◊ is short for fracture management.
The product is constructed of Cobalt Chrome. This allows surgeons the option of using the implant with or without cement. If the CONQUEST FX◊ is used without cement, the surgeon should ream, broach and implant a stem that is the same size as the last reamer and broach used. Example: Ream and Broach size 12, implant a size 12 CONQUEST FX◊. The implant will have a line-to-line fit with the reamer and broach.
If cementing the CONQUEST FX◊, the surgeon should ream, broach and implant a stem that is two sizes smaller than the last reamer and broach used. Example: Ream and Broach size 12, implant a size 10 CONQUEST FX◊. This provides a 1 mm cement mantle around the entire stem.
CONQUEST FX◊ features Smith & Nephew's circulotrapezoidal neck design. This neck design has one of the best ranges of motion available among all hip replacements on the market today. The better the range of motion, the lower the dislocation rate for the implant.
CONQUEST FX◊ uses the simple and efficient SYNERGY◊ instrumentation. Both fully toothed broaches and partially toothed broaches are instrument options. The SYNERGY◊ instrumentation fits in two well organized sterilization trays, the instruments placed in the order that they are used during surgery.
