Universal Hinge

Designed for applications as varied as the points on a compass, the COMPASS^◊ Universal Hinge requires only a few simple adjustments for application to the elbow, knee or ankle. Our original COMPASS^◊ Elbow Hinge offered an innovative and effective treatment to prevent or remedy flexion contractures of the elbow. The COMPASS^◊ Universal Hinge expands on that design, taking its success in new directions and to new levels of control and performance.

The COMPASS^◊ Universal Hinge offers:

Matching Axis Rotation. The COMPASS^◊ Universal Hinge aligns its mechanical axis with the anatomic axis of the joint. This allows the hinge to work with the joint, gently moving it through a biomechanically normal range of motion.

Precision Worm Gear. The hinge incorporates a precision worm gear that provides controlled displacement throughout the extremes of flexion and extension.

Displacement/Distraction. Distraction set screws allow the surgeon to distract the joint as needed.

Versatility. The COMPASS^◊ Universal Hinge offers great versatility for use on the elbow, the knee or the ankle - and requires only a few simple adjustments for any application.

Lower Profile. The hinge is lighter in weight and lower in profile than the original design. This improves patient comfort with the device and patient compliance throughout the healing process.

Range of Valgus. The self-telescoping design of the hinge allows a full range of 10 degrees varus to 10 degrees valgus, allowing quick, easy and anatomically appropriate application to the knee, ankle or elbow.
