Smith & Nephew offers a wide variety of cannulated screw products. Systems are available in 4.0, 5.5, 6.5, and 7.0 mm diameters with implants both in stainless steel and titanium. Most screw sizes are available in both partially threaded and fully threaded versions. Additionally, our cannulated hip pins (6.86 mm diameter) offer similar design properties but feature a captured external hex design popular for SCFE and femoral head or neck fractures.

Stainless steel is typically the product of preference as it optimizes both strength and biocompatibility. Titanium is the material of choice when greater biocompatibility is desired or where diagnostic resources such as MRI are planned. Either material choice still uses the same high quality, simple instrument system.

Our newer implant systems are the 5.5 and 7.0 mm products. These incorporate innovative instrument designs to make the surgeon's job a little easier. Ratchet screwdrivers have proven to be a popular addition, especially for manual insertion of long length screws while the longer length instruments are well-suited to pelvic and acetabular use.
