For over fifteen years only one line of bioabsorbable screws gives you technique-specific screws optimized for all approaches of both ACL and PCL reconstruction: BIORCI◊ bioabsorbable screws from Smith & Nephew. BIORCI◊ screws are the strongest bioabsorbable screws available for arthroscopists performing soft tissue or B-T-B reconstructions. With the highest pullout strength and greatest resistance to breakage among bioabsorbable screws, BIORCI◊ screws are designed to hold the graft in place for secure anatomic aperture reconstruction, allowing your patients to resume their active lifestyles.

For over fifteen years hydroxylapatite (HA) has been used in skeletal repair in such forms as porous granules, porous blocks, coatings on metal implants, and as granules incorporated in polymeric matrices. The HA granules and porous blocks have been used as bone void filler where the integrity and stability of the bone is not reliant on the implant. By combining the proven bioabsorbable strength and integrity of the BIORCI◊ Screw System with hydroxylapatite, BIORCI◊-HA screws go a step further in the evolution of ligament repair.

BIORCI◊-HA is a complete line of 23 bioabsorbable implants allowing for multiple approaches of repair and the flexibility to accommodate a variety of anatomical placements.
  • Tibial-specific 35 mm length screws offer greater strength. Longer thread engagement provides greater pullout strength within the tibial tunnel.
  •  Right knee-specific screws keep graft posterior. BIORCI◊ is the only system that includes reverse threaded screws to keep the soft tissue grafts in optimal position.
  • TORX◊ interface drives screws securely. Unique and patented TORX◊ driver-to-screw interface disperses force throughout the screw during insertion.
  • The widest selection, from the innovator in soft tissue graft fixation. Smith & Nephew is the developer of the first soft tissue fixation screw. We offer the broadest choice in technique-specific screws today, with quality and reliability second to none.
  • Made of bioabsorbable PLA. A safe, proven alternative to metal screws, BIORCI◊-HA screws are strong when needed, then absorb discreetly.
  • Hydroxylapatite helps to control the pH of the implant site. Research indicates the pH levels surrounding the absorption of polymers is reduced with the combined absorption of hydroxylapatite.1

Bone-Tendon-Bone BIORCI◊-HA screws offer 20 and 25 mm lengths for use with bone-tendon-bone grafts.
The 20 and 25 mm length screws are sized for optimal bone-tendon-bone graft fixation. Soft threads minimize graft laceration and range of diameters ensure a tight fit in all tunnels.

Instrumentation
The bone-tendon-bone approach utilizes an endoscopic cannulated drill bit for femoral tunnel preparation and a cannulated drill bit for drilling the tibial tunnel.
Medial Portal BIORCI◊-HA screws are the only implants that offer a unique, oversized head incorporated into their femoral design.
BIORCI◊-HA screws are optimized for surgeons utilizing the anteromedial approach.

The enlarged  head provides an extra barrier to maintain a secure fixation directly at the anatomic site. The head also reduces any stress risers caused by "point loading" that may occur on other full threaded screws.

Aperture fixation using the BIORCI◊-HA screws results in a short graft construct between the femoral and tibial tunnels.

Instrumentation
To optimize the preparation of the femoral tunnel during drilling, select the RCI winged routers. These patented routers compact the tunnel while drilling and provide a countersink for the enlarged head.
Tibial-Specific Maximize the length of graft/tunnel engagement for greater pullout strength.
BIORCI◊-HA tibial specific screws are leading the industry in addressing tibial fixation issues.

These longer length screws provide more soft threads to ensure maximum length interference between the graft and tibial tunnel.

These screws were designed in conjunction with leading surgeons to maximize the fixation along the tibial tunnel.

Instrumentation
The tibial tunnel can be prepared with either the RCI tibial compaction routers or a standard cannulated drill bit.
Trans-Tibial BIORCI◊-HA screws with a rounded head and soft threads for maximum protection of the grafts.
The latest addition to the RCI screw line.

These femoral screws with a matched rounded head incorporate the same Torx◊ interface as all BIORCI◊-HA screws to minimize breakage when your approach is through the tibial tunnel.

The 1.5 mm guide wire is the largest in the industry to assist you in accurate parallel placement of the screws.

Instrumentation
The trans-tibial approach utilizes an endoscopic cannulated drill bit for femoral tunnel preparation and a cannulated drill bit for drilling the tibial tunnel.
Reverse Thread Reverse Thread - because patients do not have two left knees.

Use the patented Reverse Thread BIORCI◊-HA for right knees.
To produce mirror image operations on right and left limbs, the final femoral graft position within the tunnel must be the same.

Standard (clockwise) screw thread orientation produces clockwise rotation of the graft in left knees resulting in a posterior final graft position. However, standard (clockwise) screw thread orientation results in an anterior final femoral graft position within the femoral tunnel in right knees.

Therefore to achieve a posterior final graft position in a right knee, to mirror the rotation of the left knee, a revers (counterclockwise) threaded screw may be selected.

Instrumentation
To optimize the preparation of the femoral tunnel during drilling, select the RCI winged routers. These patented routers compact the tunnel while drilling and provide a countersink for enlarged head.
