Mr. Manktelow
Mr Manktelow went to medical school in London and subsequently trained in orthopaedic surgery at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, Stanmore. Prior to his appointment at Queens, he completed training as the Lecturer in the Academic Department of Orthopaedics at the University College London, working for Professor George Bentley.
He spent a year as a clinical fellow at Harvard University, working at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. His time in America was centred around primary and revision arthroplasty surgery and it was in America that he developed a specific interest in joint replacement, specifically hip and hip revision surgery.
The Queen's Medical Centre is one of the largest teaching hospitals in Europe. The orthopaedic department comprises 27 Consultants, with five Professors and is one of the largest units in the UK. The department has a regional and supra-regional referral base in all areas of orthopaedic practice, except tumour surgery. The unit has established a national and international reputation in Orthopaedic Surgery.
Mr Manktelow introduced and developed a large hip resurfacing practice in Nottingham and he runs regular Consultant and Training Surgeon courses at Queens. He performs live demonstration surgery in the UK and abroad on a regular basis. He has performed over five hundred hip resurfacing procedures with sound clinical results over the last 7 years.
He has lectured widely on numerous topics surrounding primary, resurfacing and revision hip surgery.
