Step 1

Cleanse the wound in accordance with normal procedures. Prepare and clean the skin surrounding the tracheostomy tube by removing excess moisture.

Step 2

AllevynTracheostomy_Step1 Fit the ALLEVYN◊ Tracheostomy dressing around the stoma or tracheostomy tube. Apply the white, patterned surface of the dressing toward the patient’s neck.

Step 3

If required, the dressing may be cut to shape.

Step 4

Additional fixation, such as OPSITE◊ FLEXIGRID◊ - Transparent Film Dressing or HYPAFIX◊ Non Woven Adhesive Dressing Sheet may be used to secure the dressing.

Step 5

During the early stages of treatment, the tracheostomy site should be inspected frequently. The dressings can be left in place undisturbed for up to 7 days, or until exudate is visible and approaches 3/4" from the edge of the dressing.

Step 6: Removal

To remove ALLEVYN◊ Tracheostomy dressing, remove the retention dressing or bandage and lift the dressing away from the wound.
