Landmarking with the AchieveCAS◊ knee application

First, attach arrays to the femur and tibia. For the femur, register the center of femoral head rotation and take points to map the distal mechanical axis, distal femoral condyles, posterior condylar axis, A/P axis (Whiteside’s line – if selected) and the anterior cortex. For the tibia, take points to register the tibial mechanical axis and the tibial plateau.

Use these anatomical references to navigate precise implant sizing and placement of the distal femoral cutting block (precise distal femoral resection, flexion angle and varus/valgus) and the tibial cutting block (precise tibial resection, posterior slope and varus/valgus). Utilize measuring block to verify placement of femoral and tibial cuts and make adjustments intra-operatively (without navigation, cuts are verified in post-op X-rays: too late to make adjustments). Also use the measuring block to navigate placement of the 4-in-1 cutting block for precise Anterior/Posterior positioning and external rotation.

The femoral and tibial components

The knee application navigates sizing, resection, external rotation, A/P positioning, flexion/extension angle and varus/valgus angle of the femoral component; it navigates resection, posterior slope angle and varus/valgus angle of the tibial component for both GENESIS◊ II Total Knee System and PROFIX◊ Total Knee System.
