EXOGEN◊ Bone Healing System has a proven success rate when used to treat non-union fractures. The pre-market approval for EXOGEN◊ treatment of non-unions shows a heal rate of 86% in a study of 74 completed cases. A further study of patients with previously unhealed fractures averaging one year in age showed successful heal rates of 86%. This study included a range of conservative and surgical treatments, prior to use of EXOGEN◊ low-intensity pulsed ultrasound stimulation. Of the 29 patients, 86% of all cases healed and 75% of cases involving patients who smoked healed.
