Bone Healing System
EXOGEN◊ treatment’s pulsed ultrasound waves, with a low intensity similar to fetal ultrasound, penetrate soft tissue and move through and around bone stimulating the body’s natural bone healing process. EXOGEN◊ stimulation works safely and effectively with all forms of primary fracture management including metal fixation, as proven by its long, successful clinical history.
| EXOGEN◊ Bone Healing System has been proven to stimulate healing at every stage of the fracture repair process, but it is most beneficial when used throughout the entire fracture healing process. The EXOGEN◊ system accelerates the healing of indicated fresh fractures and resolves non-union fractures, making it a unique treatment option for fracture repair. |

| EXOGEN◊ Bone Healing System heals indicated fresh fractures 38% faster than primary fracture management alone. It not only accelerates healing rates in fractures of both a cortical and cancellous bone, but also has been shown to reduce in-cast time by 22%. | |

| EXOGEN◊ Bone Healing System has a proven success rate when used to treat non-union fractures. The pre-market approval for EXOGEN◊ treatment of non-unions shows a heal rate of 86% in a study of 74 completed cases. A further study of patients with previously unhealed fractures averaging one year in age showed successful heal rates of 86%. This study included a range of conservative and surgical treatments, prior to use of EXOGEN◊ low-intensity pulsed ultrasound stimulation. Of the 29 patients, 86% of all cases healed and 75% of cases involving patients who smoked healed. |

EXOGEN◊ Bone Healing System has been shown to accelerate the fracture healing process for patients with certain comorbidity factors that can delay fracture healing, putting them at risk for a non-union. As indicated in Cook et al, EXOGEN◊ treatment accelerates fracture healing by as much as 50% in the presence of these factors that complicate fracture healing (e.g. patient age, fracture type, location, large fracture gap or smoking history). In clinical studies, EXOGEN◊ Bone Healing System has also demonstrated the ability to reduce delayed unions by 83% and reduce the loss of fracture alignment.
