In April 2013, distinguished guests from Suzhou Industrial Park and Jiangsu Province attended the offcial opening of the major extension to Smith & Nephew’s Advanced Wound Management manufacturing facility in Suzhou, China.
The expansion more than doubled the size of the Suzhou facility, and is enabling Smith & Nephew to continue to develop its product portfolio both for the Chinese market and for export.
Those manufactured at Suzhou include ALLEVYN, Smith & Nephew’s leading foam dressing brand, which is used in the treatment of hard to heal wounds such as leg ulcers, as well as new portfolios for the mid-tier across the Emerging & International Markets.
Completed on time, to budget, and without a losttime incident, the extension takes the total floor area to 27,000 square meters and doubles the production capacity to over 100 million wound dressings a year.
We are delivering on our Strategic Priority to Simplify and Improve our Operating Model by optimising our global manufacturing footprint.
