Freestyle swimmer

diving

Her comeback is underway, and she hopes to be winning races once again.

This world class athlete has won medals for swimming, but her last race was an intensely painful one for her. Stretched ligaments in her shoulder made every stroke agony.

Surgery was the only option. Traditional methods would have meant opening her whole shoulder and could have spelt the end of her career. But arthroscopic surgery using a Smith & Nephew camera and instruments enabled the injury to be repaired with the minimum of tissue damage.

The procedure was completed in around an hour and she was able to return home. She is now back in the pool and swimming without pain.
