Primary Hip System

ECHELON^◊ Primary implants are part of a family of femoral stems that address primary and revision situations. With one set of instruments, a variety of stems can be implanted.

Cementless total hip arthroplasty has provided a proven method of treatment for several decades. The ECHELON^◊ Primary Hip system incorporates the design concepts learned throughout this period to offer a femoral implant system that addresses the clinical needs of both surgeons and patients alike.

By offering dual offset implants in 1 mm increments and simple yet precise instrumentation, the ECHELON^◊ Primary Hip system offers the surgeon unprecedented intraoperative flexibility. For the patient, ECHELON^◊ Primary stems are designed with the goal of providing long-term, pain-free restoration of joint function and normal hip biomechanics.

System Features

Neck Offset Options
Standard and high offset options are available to ensure the appropriate joint tension.

Optimized 12/14 Taper
Modular femoral heads are locked onto the stem with an optimized 12/14 taper which contributes to an increased range of motion.

Neck Geometry
Circulotrapezoidal neck provides increased range of motion compared to a circular neck of the same strength. Polished surface improves fatigue strength.

Driving Platform
The ECHELON^◊ implants feature a threaded driving platform with an eliptical slot for rotational and axial implant control during insertion.

Shoulder Relief
Lateral shoulder is rounded to minimize the risk of fracturing the greater trochanter during stem insertion.

Lateral Proximal Flare
ECHELON^◊ has a 3 degree proximal anterior / posterior flare to improve proximal fill, without preventing implant seating.

Porous Coating
RoughCoat^TM porous coating increases the friction between the implant and the bone, improving implant stability and providing a porous surface for bone ingrowth.

Material
All ECHELON^◊ implants are manufactured from Cobalt Chromium allowing for extensive porous coating of the stem.

Size Range
ECHELON^◊ Primary stems are offered in 1mm increments to minimize bone removal and provide optimum canal fill.

Distal Flutes
The ECHELON^◊ system offers distal flutes to increase rotational stability.

Distal Slot
The distal slot eases stem insertion, reduces the risk of fracture and reduces distal stem stiffness.

Distal Bullet Tip
The bullet tip reduces the stress between the distal implant tip and the bone to minimize end-of-stem thigh pain
