DUROLANE®, currently approved in Europe and Canada, is a hyaluronic acid containing product used for the symptomatic treatment of mild to moderate knee and hip osteoarthritis. DUROLANE differs from SUPARTZ® and other multi-injection hyaluronic acid products in that one single injection represents a full course of treatment. Both products are used to supplement, or replace the natural hyaluronic acid found in healthy cartilage and synovial fluid. It acts as a lubricant and shock absorber in healthy joints and is an important weapon in the orthopaedic surgeon’s and rheumatologist’s armamentarium for treating osteoarthritis.

DUROLANE is often used in younger osteoarthritic patients who wish to remain active by cushioning the blow of knee or hip osteoarthritis to reduce pain and restore mobility and flexibility. For this reason DUROLANE is popular with sports medicine specialists to provide enduring pain relief safely and effectively. It is a NASHA (Non-Animal Stabilized Hyaluronic Acid) Gel containing product and is non-allergenic and non mutagenic.

 DUROLANE is unique in that it is the only single injection hyaluronic acid product on the market but it is also the only one in the world approved for hip osteoarthritis as well. US approval in the near future is expected.
