Description
- CADESORB◊ is a protease modulating ointment which reduces local wound pH and modulates protease activity.
- By reducing the wound fluid pH to a range where protease activity is minimal, CADESORB◊ will help to correct the natural balance in chronic wounds. This can assist the migration of the epidermal margin and stimulate healing.
Features
Lowers pH of local wound environment
Modulates excess protease activity
Available in different size tubes
Ointment presentation
Absorbent starch polymer
Benefits
- Modulation of excess protease activity protects the extra cellular matrix and aids healing.
- CADESORB◊ kick-starts the wound out of the inflammatory phase back into the healing phase
- Removes barriers to healing
- Easy to apply and remove
- Does not support bacterial growth
- Manages fluid for up to 3 days depending on levels of exudate
Indications
CADESORB◊ is indicated for the management of chronic wounds. The product is effective on sloughy and exuding wounds, though an appropriate secondary dressing such as ALLEVYN◊ may be required to manage higher levels of exudate.
The time taken for CADESORB◊ to become saturated and reach its absorbent capacity depends on the rate of exudate from the wound. When this happens the excess exudate will usually be visible as strike-through on the secondary dressing.
CADESORB◊ is ideal for wounds that are proving hard to heal, for example those wounds which may have become “static” or stuck in the inflammatory phase of wound healing. This may be due to an elevated level of protease activity. CADESORB◊ has been proven to manage these levels18 and take the wound back to a point where healing can restart.
CADESORB◊ can be used under compression therapy, which is often required when treating leg ulcers.
Contraindications / Precautions
Warnings and precautions
- Use the contents of the tube on one patient only.
- CADESORB◊ should not be used in the vicinity of the eyes, ears, nose or mouth.

- Appropriate anti-bacterial therapy should be used if wound infection is suspected
- Bacterial growth should not be supported in the product if used in accordance with the instructions for use
Contraindications
- Do not use CADESORB◊ on dry nectrotic tissue (where no exudate is present). If dry necrotic tissue is present, it may be necessary to soften the area with a hydrogel such as INTRASITE◊ Gel prior to application.
- Do not use CADESORB◊ on patients with a known sensitivity to of any of its ingredients (CADEXOMER◊ Starch, POLYETHYLENE◊ Glycol, POLOXOMER◊).
