Non-Adhesive Apertured Hydrocellular Dressing
The ALLEVYN◊ Tracheostomy dressings offer significant benefits to nurses and patients in helping to care for tracheostomy patients. ALLEVYN◊ Tracheostomy dressings have a 'key hole' aperture in the dressing which allows the dressing to fit neatly around the tracheostomy tube or other drain or stoma.
Highly Absorbent
The unique structure of ALLEVYN◊ Tracheostomy dressing enables it to absorb moderate to high levels of liquid. This prevents maceration and so helps to maintain the condition of the patient’s skin in the peristomal area. High absorbency also means that the dressing has the capacity to stay in place for up to seven days. This makes the dressing not only more cost effective but also minimises discomfort for the patient.
Non Adherent
The advanced design of ALLEVYN◊ Tracheostomy dressings minimises adherence to both the peristomal skin and the Tracheostomy tube, so reducing trauma for the patient during use and removal.
Easy to Apply and Remove
The ‘key-hole’ aperture in ALLEVYN◊ Tracheostomy dressing allows straightforward handling, so that the dressing fits neatly and easily around the tracheostomy tube. If required, the dressing may be cut to shape. Removal of the dressing is also simple and painless, causing minimal distress to the patient.
Soft and Conformable
The incorporation of a cushioned middle layer offers significant benefits in terms of patient comfort and protection. The high inbuilt strength of the ALLEVYN◊ Tracheostomy dressing allows confidence in use. Its non-fibrous construction also means that fibre shedding is not a problem, unlike more traditional dressings.
Helps minimise liquid and bacterial contamination
The polyurethane outer film of the ALLEVYN◊ Tracheostomy dressing acts as a barrier to bacteria and so aids in the prevention of bacterial contamination. It is also a barrier to liquids, which prevents leakage of secretions through the front of the dressing and provides an easy clean surface.
Attractive Appearance
The ALLEVYN◊ Tracheostomy dressing has a clean, functional appearance which helps to reassure patients and their carers.
Absorbent apertured dressing for the stoma created by tracheostomy or for appropriately sized wound drainage sites.
Do not use ALLEVYN◊ Tracheostomy in conjunction with oxidising agents such as hypochlorite solution (e.g. EUSOL) or hydrogen peroxide as these can break down the absorbent polyurethane component of the dressing.
