Self-Adhesive Polyurethane Dressing
ALLEVYN◊ Thin dressings contain a highly absorbent material embedded in a self-adherent polyurethane matrix. The dressing is covered with a waterproof polyurethane film, which is permeable to oxygen and water vapour and is bacteriaproof.
ALLEVYN◊ Thin dressings employ all the proven benefits of moist wound healing, without any breakdown of the dressing caused by contact with exudate. This promotes early, clean and trouble-free healing of those wounds, which have traditionally proved difficult to care for.
Highly Absorbent
ALLEVYN◊ Thin dressings are suitable for use on low to moderately exuding wounds. They have the ability to stay in place for up to five days, taking into account local clinical protocols.
Non-adherent to wound surface
ALLEVYN◊ Thin dressings are conveniently self-adhesive, which adhere well to dry intact skin, but will not adhere to the wound surface.
Highly conformable and flexible
ALLEVYN◊ Thin dressings are highly conformable and flexible making them suitable for areas of the body where this is required to keep the dressing in place. They will also conform well to the wound surface.
Promotes early healing due to moist wound environment
The outer layer used on ALLEVYN◊ Thin is a breathable film layer. This allows the formation and maintenance of a moist wound healing environment at the wound surface, reduces the risk of eschar formation and promoting early trouble free healing. The film is also waterproof and bacteriaproof.
Easy to use
ALLEVYN◊ Thin dressings absorb exudate, ensuring minimal mess at dressing changes. Dressing changes are therefore easier for the carer and less traumatic for the patient; wound irrigation can be kept to a minimum. The progression of exudate is visible through the opaque dressing. ALLEVYN◊ Thin dressings need no additional fixation because they are self-adhesive.
ALLEVYN◊ Thin dressings can be used on all types of exuding granulating wounds with a low to moderate rate of exudate such as post-op wounds, leg ulcers, second degree burns, pressure ulcers, and donor sites.
Precautions
Do not use any ALLEVYN◊ product with oxidising agents such as hypochlorite solutions or hydrogen peroxide solutions.
Contraindications
Do not use on wounds with exposed muscle, bone or tendon or where a risk of drying out exists or where the surrounding skin is damaged or sensitive.
