Three Dimensional Hydrocellular Dressing
ALLEVYN◊ Cavity dressings represent a significant step forward in the management and healing of full thickness wounds. The product is made from a core of highly absorbent, individual foam ‘chips’ separated from the wound by a non-adherent, perforated film. The dressing has been designed to combine maximum absorbency and conformability with easy handling and less traumatic dressing changes.
Highly Absorbent
ALLEVYN◊ Cavity dressings have been designed to overcome the problems associated with dressing deep wounds. Their high absorbency results from the ability of the encapsulated foam “chips” to absorb exudate not only by capillary action (as is the case with traditional absorbents), but also by absorption of fluid into the structure of the foam. The result is cost effective management of cavity wounds as less frequent dressing changes are required.
Highly Conformable to Wound Contours
ALLEVYN◊ Cavity dressings are available in a range of sizes suitable for virtually all deep wounds. The dressing has been designed to be soft and pliable so improving the conformability and versatility of the product. Furthermore, the dressing provides and maintains optimum contact with the wound surface as it absorbs, minimising the risk of abcess formation.
Easy to use and apply
ALLEVYN◊ Cavity dressings are presented individually sterilised in convenient plastic trays. More than one dressing may be used in the same wound if necessary. The correct dressing or combination of dressings can be quickly and easily placed into the cavity, allowing more effective use of nursing time.
Superior Non-Adherency
The three dimensional honeycombed outer surface of the ALLEVYN◊ Cavity dressing provides a highly effective non-adherent wound contact layer, so minimising discomfort and trauma during dressing changes.
Promotes Faster Healing
The wound contact surface of the ALLEVYN◊ Cavity dressing maintains a moist wound healing environment which prevents eschar formation and promotes faster healing.
Can be left in place for up to 7 days
The dressing can be left for this length of time depending on the clinical condition of the wound.
The ALLEVYN◊ Cavity dressing has been designed to promote complete healing through open granulation or to manage wounds prior to delayed primary closure. Specifically:
ALLEVYN◊ Cavity should not be re-used. Do not soak ALLEVYN◊ Cavity in oxidising agents such as hypochlorite solutions (e.g. Eusol) or hydrogen peroxide as these break down the foam filling of the dressings. Avoid using forceps to place the dressings into the wound as this may puncture the dressing. Ensure that the number of dressings used in the wound is noted on application and checked on removal.
