Cadexomer Matrix with Iodine
|
0.9% Iodine immobilised in cadexomer is slowly released from the cadexomer to an iodine free environment in the presence of exudate (the wound) |
The Iodine (I2) will move across a concentration gradient until an equilibrium is established between IODOSORB◊ and the wound bed. | Once in the wound bed, the I2 will convert to I- as it kills micro-organisms. When all the I2 has been converted to I- there will be a noticeable colour change which will indicate that it is time to change IODOSORB◊. |
