Title of Measure: Labour turnover 
Description of measure: Designed to measure the number of employees voluntarily leaving the business. This will assist in identifying areas where we are experiencing retention issues so that action can be taken. Aggregated Group results will be used to demonstrate employee retention and action taken if required as part of Sustainability Reporting
Formula: Number of FTE leavers / current number of FTE employees in period X 100 = LTO %
Time Period: Measured on a quarterly basis with an end of year target Annual reporting (calendar year) for Group reporting

Target: < 5%
Definitions: Unless there are special circumstances such as a sudden large increase in the size of the workforce, the average current number of employees in period is usually taken to be the number working at the start of the period added to the number of working at the end - then total being divided by two.

Include:

• Resignations
• Ill health retirement
• Not returned from maternity leave
• Early retirement
  

Exclude:

• Dismissal (disciplinary / poor performance)
• Redundancy
• End of temporary contacts
• Death in service· Normal retirement
• Inter GBU transfer
• Mutually agreed separation
